Diversity Search

Set a minimum percentage for any group — for example, "at least 8% Black" or "at least 20% Hispanic/Latino" — and see which schools meet it. Nationally, undergraduate populations run roughly 50% White, 19% Hispanic/Latino, 11% Black, 6% Asian, and 4% multiracial; use "Match National Averages" below as a starting point, then adjust.

About the Diversity Index: this is a standard measure (Simpson's Diversity Index) of how evenly a student body is spread across race/ethnicity groups — it's the probability that two students picked at random are from different groups. It rewards an even mix, so it isn't the same thing as "how many underrepresented students attend." A historically Black college with a large majority-Black population, for example, can score lower on this index than a highly mixed school, even though it plays a distinct and important role in access for Black students. Use the specific % filters above if a particular group's representation is what you're looking for; use the index as a rough "how mixed is the student body" gauge, not a substitute.
